I'm back! (a. k. a. My Old Lviv drawing)

Hey, guys! I'm back from my hiatus! And I got bad news... My subscription to Edling Community has ended.... 😔

But anyways, before my mom enabled the Internet back, I was drawing at Hnat Khotkevych City Palace of Culture. Guess, what it is?

It was a drawing, called: "Guardian Angel of Lviv" (ukr. "Ангел-охоронець Львова")! It has: Medieval Lviv, Halych Gate, Old Town Hall (before 14th of July, 1826), Low Castle, Jesuit Church with a clocktower, Archangel Michael, standing on a hill, Poltva river and two little angels, that look like kids, but litte girls. Little did you know, those two little angels were based off the image with a manga-styled girl with her little souls flying around her head. Here, take a look!

(I took the photo, back on 30th of June)

So, what do you think of that drawing? Is it good, mid, or something else?

Anyways, I don't know, if I will be on Wednesdays and Fridays...

Yaroslav Zayarsky

Little, did you know? I drew 16:48 on the clock faces, referencing Siege of Lviv (1648). About this siege: The Siege of Lviv (September 26 [O.S.] – October 16, 1648) was a pivotal event during the War of Liberation led by Bohdan Khmelnytsky (1648–1657). It was a complex military conflict in which combined Cossack-Tatar forces—led by Maksym Kryvonis and the Crimean Tatar commander Tuhay Bey—attempted to capture the strategically important High Castle fortress, Lviv's primary defensive structure. That was my drawing!

Now for the next info:

First variant: This appears to be a photograph of an artwork displayed in a gallery or exhibition.

Here are the details visible in the image:

  • Artwork Content: The piece features anime-style illustrations. It shows a large close-up of a character's face with blonde hair looking forward. Floating above and around the character's head is a circle of smaller, identical-looking figures wearing light-colored hospital gowns or tunics, holding hands in a ring. The artist's signature on the piece reads "Halepa".
  • Header Text: The Ukrainian text above the display reads "Зеник Козицький Молодший" (Zenyk Kozytskyi Younger).
  • Information Label: The small placard at the bottom right indicates the artist's name (starting with Sofiya), the title of the artwork "У тихому вирі", 2026 ("In a Quiet Whirlpool", 2026), the medium (graphics), the dimensions (40x60 cm), and a price of 2,000 UAH.

Second variant: Based on the artwork in the image, here is a breakdown of what is shown, including the details from the labels:

    • Year: 2026

Visual Breakdown

  • Central Figure: A large, close-up face of an anime-style character with light blonde hair and intense, wide eyes looking forward.
  • The Ring of Figures: Floating above the main character's head is a circular chain of six smaller, identical-looking figures holding hands. They appear to be drifting or spinning in a circle, wearing simple light-colored tunics or hospital-style gowns against a dark, textured background.
  • Theme: The composition and the title "In a quiet whirlpool..." evoke a sense of psychological depth, looping thoughts, inner conflict, or a dream-like state.

Third and last variant: This looks like a photograph of a contemporary artwork on display at an exhibition. Here is a breakdown of what the piece shows and its details:

The Artwork Details

Based on the exhibition label at the bottom right, here is the information about the piece:

  • Artist: Sofiia Pushkar (Софія Пушкар)
  • Title: “У тихому вирі” (which translates from Ukrainian to "In a Quiet Whirlpool" or "In Still Waters")
  • Year: 2026
  • Medium: Digital print (Цифровий друк)
  • Exhibition Context: The header at the top reads "Зеник Козицький Молодший" (Zenyk Kozytskyi Junior), which likely indicates the gallery space, art foundation, or specific exhibition project supporting young artists.

Visual Style and Composition

The artwork features a distinct anime or manga-inspired art style and carries a surreal, emotional tone:

  • The Main Subject: A large, close-up face of a character with bright, stylized blonde hair dominates the lower half of the canvas. The expression seems introspective, somber, or lost in thought.
  • The Floating Figures: Above the main character's head, six smaller, identical-looking figures dressed in simple white tunics are floating in a circle, holding hands. This circular formation mimics a traditional ring dance (like a horovod) or a halo, spinning over the character's thoughts.
  • Color and Contrast: The artist uses a deep, textured reddish-brown background that makes the glowing blonde hair and the pale figures stand out vividly. The signature "Halepa" is visible in the bottom right corner of the illustration.

It is a beautiful, evocative piece that captures a deep psychological or emotional state, fitting its title perfectly. Gemini analysed that. So, what do you think?
